  4. This is a sample GODISK upload session on DX-BBS which minimizes the
  5. telephone connect time.  See notes at the end of this file about 
  6. applying this sample to a download session.
  7.    
  8.  
  9. The following has taken place before the sample upload:
  10. -------------------------------------------------------
  11. 1. The GOQSL SYSOP has already established a DX-BBS password and has
  12.    been registered (by me) into the GODISK conference.
  13.  
  14. 2. The GOQSL SYSOP has prepared the ZIP file for upload following the 
  15.    MONTHLY.TXT file.
  16.  
  17. 3. The GOQSL SYSOP has set transmission protocol to default to Z Modem,
  18.    either using the "T" command at a menu prompt or during initial 
  19.    registration on DX-BBS.
  20.  
  21. 4. The ZIP file to be uploaded by the GOQSL SYSOP is in the directory
  22.    which will be accessed by the communications program when it is 
  23.    commanded to begin the upload to DX-BBS.
  24.  
  25. 5. The directory into which mail messages may be downloaded does not
  26.    contain any files which have a file name beginning with DX-BBS.
  27.  
  28.    ZModem may not advise you that the file is already there (maybe 
  29.    from last month!) and when you unZIP it you will find that it is
  30.    an old file!  This applies to ALL downloads using ZModem.

  33. Note that all of this procedure can be automated into a script in your
  34. communications program.  ProComm+ V2, for instance, has such a facility.

  39. identified with comments to the right,
  40. which begin with the <- characters.            <-This is a sample comment
  41.                                                <-which accompanies a typed

  300. 1. If you accidentally upload your GODISK file without first joining the
  301.    GODISK conference, I will still get the file ok.  I will move the file
  302.    into the proper conference.

  305. 2. This sample session does not imply that you are obligated to follow this
  306.    procedure implicitly.  This sample has been prepared to assist new GOQSL
  307.    SYSOPs, especially those who want to minimize telephone costs.

  310. 3. Want to apply the above to a GODISK download session?  
  311.  
  312.       -After joining GODISK, instead of the upload (u) command, type B 
  313.        to get the list of bulletins.
  314.  
  315.       -Select the SYSOP bulletin for GODISK/GOQSL release by typing 
  316.        that number.
  317.  
  318.       -Read the bulletin and note the password included in that bulletin.
  319.  
  320.       -At a GODISK menu, type GODISK, and type the password from the 
  321.        bulletin when it is requested.
  322.  
  323.       -DX-BBS will then attempt a download of GODISK.ZIP to you.
  324.  
  325.       -After you unZIP GODISK.ZIP, read the READ###.TXT file to see if
  326.        there are other files you want.  Call back and download them.

  329. 4. Download session?  If you are calling back for files identified in 
  330.    READ###.TXT, you can stack your download command to save time and 
  331.    effort.  Again, this assumes you are running ZModem.  Here's how:
  332.        
  333.       -For this illustration, the files you wish are named file1.zip,
  334.        file2.zip, file3.zip and file4.exe.  
  335.  
  336.       -At a menu prompt, type the following:
  337.  
  338.        DB;file1;file2;file3;file4.exe
  339.  
  340.        Note that DX-BBS will assume it is a ZIP file unless you tell
  341.        it otherwise.  DX-BBS will ask you for (another) file to 
  342.        download.  Hit enter.  Then DX-BBS will ask you if you want 
  343.        to stick around or be disconnected after the batch download.

  347. 5. Cut down time even more?  At a menu prompt type X.  This will set 
  348.    eXpert mode, which will suppress the menus.  You can get the menus 
  349.    again by typing another X at a command prompt.
